Founder & CEO
Often referred to as a ‘geek in stilettos’, Renée has been in the marketing and entrepreneurship space since she was 17 years old. Having run a successful restaurant at such a young age, she quickly learned the necessary skills and tactics needed to promote her companies.
Then, the birth of the Internet as a marketing channel gave way to what is now Onboardly. She won Phenomenal Woman of the Year, made the list of must-follow women entrepreneurs for 2017, is a founding member of Bee Media (now Adcentricity), and is a regular contributor to Entrepreneur and KISSMetrics.
Between the frequent flights across the world, work, and raising her two boys (11 months a part) she still finds time to give back to the community through Junior Achievers NB, Charity:Water and more.
Renee is primarily responsible for Onboardly’s operations and Inbound Content Marketing efforts.
Director of Media Relations
Crystal found her way to Onboardly through a series of events that could only be considered fate. After spending several years working in experiential marketing delivering word-of-mouth campaigns across Canada (and a short-term stint in Las Vegas as a promoter), she decided that a change was in order and it was time to move home. After Vegas, Crystal took a (boring) day job back on the east coast, but simultaneously managed a hectic freelance #StartupPR schedule on the side. In 2012, she quit both for a full-time position with Onboardly.
An avid writer and media enthusiast, Crystal contributes to helping our clients achieve visibility and mindshare through media relations and content promotion. As Director of Public Relations, Crystal has helped clients appear in publications such as Forbes, Entrepreneur, The Atlantic, Fast Company, The Huffington Post, TechCrunch, Wired and The Next Web (to name a few).
Rarely caught without her iPhone in one hand and a Starbucks latte in the other - Crystal is our pop-culture junkie. A closet fangirl and book lover, Crystal’s the go to source for any perfect animated gif, anytime.
“Difficulties prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.” The road to Onboardly for Ashley may have been a bumpy one, but it was one heck of a ride and she’s finally here!
Ashley started off with a career in Science in mind, but realized she was a bit too social of a person to be stuck in a lab all day! She then stumbled into the Startup community and fell in love! She started on the IT Sales side at Q1 Labs and even lasted through the major IBM acquisition. Wanting to stick with the startup community, she went to lead the Sales & Marketing team with another startup software company. Realizing that there was the dream role of combining her love of marketing while geeking out on spreadsheets, she found her home at Onboardly as Account Director.
Ashley is active in the NB Startup Community and is working on helping other women get outside of their comfort zones with online virtual workshops titled “When Opportunity Doesn’t Knock, Build a Door!” She runs mainly off of coffee and attempts to keep up with her very busy toddler and two fur babies. She loves mud runs and adventure races and plans to sleep at some point.
Senior PR & Account Manager
Eric fell into his first career in journalism at a daily newspaper at the age of 18.
Over the next 14 years, he became a key player in an award-winning news team, serving as reporter, editor and go-to guy for just about any task that needed to be taken care of. He covered everything from entertainment to municipal politics and was tasked with editing and overseeing numerous daily and weekly publications.
Eric’s journey to Onboardly, however, was anything but accidental. After spending nearly half his life in a newsroom, he was looking for a change and wanted to dive into the world of startup PR with a vibrant, exciting team based right in his hometown.
His experience on the other side of the media world gives Onboardly new insight into the hectic world of news and contributes to helping our clients tell their stories, achieve visibility and gain new fans.
He’s a total music geek and craft beer nut, but if you find Eric outside the office, there’s a good chance he is chasing - or being chased by - his toddler around the kitchen island.
Digital Media Specialist
Cassandra brings broad digital and communications experience to the team. Prior to joining Onboardly, she was a project manager at a digital agency. In addition to managing a variety of different projects and client relationships, she also helped lead their marketing initiatives, including social media and content marketing. Cassandra also previously worked as a freelance social media manager.
She’s a city girl and social media addict who loves to document her urban adventures via a variety of different social media. During the warm summer months, you’ll find her tending to her urban garden — a refuge from the sometimes chaotic urban life.
Jared first discovered his love for marketing when he created both yellow and pink posters for his first lemonade stand. At just seven years old he thought the only way to beat out his neighbourhood competitors was to offer pink lemonade as well.
Fast forward fifteen years, he recently graduated from the Business Marketing program at a local private institution. It was there that Jared further indulged in his creativity, placing third with his brainstorming application “HeadsIn” at Startup Weekend NB (Powered by Google for Entrepreneurs), and working alongside the New Brunswick Association of Private Colleges & Universities with David Hawkins developing social media and content strategies.
His love for all things social, fashion and pop culture, mixed with his new found interests in the startup community and private education sector - Jared set his sights on Onboardly and reached out to us with no inkling that we were hiring and dazzled his way into an internship where he kicked off by showing natural content writing, creativity and ideation capabilities. Jared’s adaptability to any project is something to be admired, which is why it was a no brainer for us to keep him around (that and he refused to leave)
Outside the office Jared is a self proclaimed merman and selfie king. He can be found doing laps in the pool or sifting through the latest issue of Cosmopolitan. If you follow Jared on instagram then you never have to worry about missing out on the latest red carpet trends. He’s our own little Perez Hilton.
